Melted
An Allegorical Poem by Kristina Ray
This poem is in my signature style—short, sweet, (and maybe a little wicked.) I used to think poems needed to be long or epic to be worthwhile, but I’ve always preferred to say exactly what needs to be said with as few words as possible. So while it isn’t lengthy, it certainly gets my point across. I hope you enjoy it! 💛
Melted
by Kristina Ray
I threw water on the wicked witch today,
and now all of my troubles have melted away.
I used to think it was morbid to find pleasure in someone’s death,
but when it’s a past version of yourself, it might be for the best.
It’s not so much that I’m rejoicing; it’s more like I feel relief
because now that she’s not hanging around, I finally feel free.
It’s hard to let go of what’s familiar despite the harm it brings,
but now that the wicked witch is gone, my new self can finally sing…
(ding dong the wicked witch is dead.)
