The Constant Tide
A July Submission Poem by Kim Williams, M.Div.
The Constant Tide
How like the sea, the boundless main,
Is this deep love of ours;
It ebbs in silence, flows again,
And fills the quiet hours.
Like waves that kiss the sandy shore,
And rush to meet the bay,
My heart returns to yours once more,
No matter how I stray.
It holds its secrets, dark and deep,
Within a mirror blue,
And sings the lonely soul to sleep,
Just as I lean on you.
For in the rhythm of the tide,
A promise is revealed:
That I am yours, to hold and bide,
Upon this azure field.
A thousand miles of salt and foam,
Cannot our hearts divide,
The rolling ocean brings me home,
And binds me to your side.

I really enjoyed this. Tides seem to hold endless possibilities, constantly unfolding secrets and revealing something hidden beneath the surface. I love how this poem transforms the ocean into a symbol of love - something vast, mysterious, and always returning.
