Beautiful work by Franky and Nina, aching with remembrance, before shedding the past. There's a centering in the present, though it is a moment that stretches forever; an eternal now filled with expunging. This is a deep piece, bravo
I appreciate the vulnerability of this poem. It's about change and transformation but it's not shown as a huge celebration for everyone to see.
Lines like "I’m practicing not dragging my ghosts into rooms they were never meant to enter." and "Even my fear is offered water / before I ask it to leave." show tenderness and humility.
This changes is an ongoing process, not the destination.
Hi!! I really like this!! And thanks for the re-interpretation / understanding tips and perspective at the bottom of the poem!! This also seem to parallel something happening in my own Life* - With kind thanks, Marilyne xox 🙏 😊 💫
I relate so much to that moment between what was and what’s next, trying to figue out what to keep. “Old clothes don’t fit,” literally and metaphorically. The whole poem makes me want to pause and take a breath before moving forward.
Beautiful work. That feeling of looking back and remembering, as well as change and moving forward whilst letting the ache of the past have their place without fully bending you to their will is something powerful.
I loved it and although I was subscribed to Franky before, I hadn't subscribed to Nina, so have now remedied that.
The reflective piece from Bear at the end was fantastic as always, too.
Thank you Gary - for reading so thoughtfully (as others have done, too!), and for sharing how you experienced it.
Some time had passed between submitting the poem and the publication and yet - the timing of the publishing couldn’t have been better - I got to reread our duet and blink away some tears of awe and gratitude. Life is magical like that.
